ToGIF is designed to convert and edit video locally. The source clip, extracted frames, preview, and finished GIF remain on your device unless you choose to share the downloaded file elsewhere.
Open the private GIF converterThe browser creates a temporary local URL so ToGIF can preview the selected file. WebAssembly then reads the video within the browser tab, extracts the requested frames, and encodes your GIF. ToGIF does not send the source video, frame images, or generated animation to its web server for conversion.
Temporary working files exist only in the browser session. Closing or refreshing the page clears the active editing state. The finished file is saved only when you select the download button.

The editing workflow does not upload your source video or generated GIF to ToGIF storage.
The website does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, or precise location.
ToGIF does not create a public or private online gallery containing files you have converted.
The application files are served through Cloudflare. The FFmpeg WebAssembly runtime may be loaded from a dedicated static asset domain configured by ToGIF. Those requests retrieve the conversion software; they do not include the contents of your selected video.
The optional “Buy Me a Coffee” link opens an external service. Its privacy practices apply only after you follow that link. ToGIF does not automatically send your selected media to that service.
Local processing reduces exposure, but the device and browser still matter. Avoid editing sensitive media on an untrusted or shared computer. Review the preview carefully before downloading or sharing a GIF, because the final file may reveal frames you intended to remove.
